so. new life, new habits, right? almost.
I've been doing a lot of talking about how great Boston is, how I'm stressfree, & all is wonderful.
Yes. the intensity level of my life is significantly lower - awesome & I've changed a few of my habits:
1. I've been running. 2-3 times a week & I'm up to 4.5 miles. (granted I've only managed to do it once, but it got done)
2. I've been cooking. But not as much as I need to be.
3. I've been painting my own nails. Saving money and pretty much looks the same. thats definitely a win.
4. I've been drinking more water. a good thing for sure - but needs to continue on the weekends. Should not be entirely because I don't have enough to do at work.
Thats a good start. But I really need to kick it up a notch. I've been reading a bunch of new blogs about running & cooking & being healthy, etc etc (and really I could spend dayyysss reading this stuff) Now I need to start incorporating it in my life. Its one thing to read about all these great healthy recipes, time to start making them.
new goals:
make better decisions - if I plan to run on friday, don't give in to happy hour.
cook more - need to stop going to out to dinner twice a week & start cooking for friends
phase out frozen/super-processed food - there is absolutely zero reason why I need LeanCuisine in my life
more substancial breakfast - special K bars do not count as a meal. fact.

yumm
so I'm not a cook. I tell myself I can follow recipe and it usually comes out well. I've been trying to cook more. I've made a handful of things recently, mostly courtesy of an email of recipes from D.Breen.
last night, I decided to make pizza (recipe free) Granted Whole Foods actually made the dough, I took care of the rest & was quite pleased with myself. sauteed onions & garlic over fresh tomato slices, a splash of red sauce & fresh mozzarella. mmmm.

stress free
stress free.
After 4 years of NY & 2 crazy jobs, I understand stress. intensity. and just got used to it. I made peace with the fact that it was how adult-life worked.
Until now.
I've been at new job for a month. Granted, I still don't really know what I'm doing, but in the last month, I've felt approximately 10 minutes of stress. 10 minutes of awkward work stress, not even difficult stress.
and the people I work with genuinely like their jobs. its refreshing.
If this new life means I get to work 45 low stress hours a week with summer fridays (and still get paid), plus time to work out, time to cook, I might be in love.
if i didnt live in the city (and loove it), it would look like this..

pretty.
pretty pictures I've taken. One of these days I'll break out the camera and blog like a real blogger. I've been cooking more :) and running :)
though still fully addicted to wine. all is well.
its a really odd feeling to realize that you have zero stress in your life. i used to be semi-crazed all the time. its nice to relax.

Brand Spankin New
(hurrah internet)
I've been living my new crazy life for like 48 hours. I've been in Boston for 4 days. Just in time for the Pats to lose to the Jets (AWFUL) and a few snowstorms. I picked a terrible time to move North.
regardless.. i'm loving it so far. my apt is amazing. bigger and far more wonderful than 6C.
I have lofty goals for this new life:
LOTS more cooking
read books
light candles
do yoga
half marathon
get comfortable at the new job
try lots of new fun restaurants
go skydiving (dont tell my parents)
love it.
